Accessorizing Your African Print Dress

  • Avoid big clunky pieces
African prints are bold as it is. You don’t want the additional attention by wearing clunky accessories. When you are wearing dresses with bold prints, it is always advisable to go small and understated when it comes ti accessories.
  • Do not mix prints
One of the worst things that you can do when you are wearing a dress with an African print is to have accessories with conflicting prints. This means no polka dots or stripes. Be consistent with your look and go African all the way.
  • Avoid multiple colours
You should also avoid having accessories with too many different colours. You want to stand out not look like a clown. A wise strategy would be to pick one colour from the print of your dress and then get only accessories with that colour.
  • This is not the time to shine
This means that you should also avoid wearing jewellery that sparkles. Again, you should go for the monochromatic look when it comes to jewellery. Think black beads. If you want a little sparkle, then opt for small pieces like stud earrings.
  • But a little gold won’t hurt
If you really want to “lighten up” your look then go with gold jewellery. But again keep it simple. A little gold chain is preferable over large chunky pieces.
  • Say no to large bags
When you are wearing an African print dress than that is the time so say goodbye to large bags and hello to small clutches.
  • Get the right shoes
Should you also wear African-inspired shoes? Not necessarily. A better option would be shoes with neutral style and colour.
